Yves St. Laurent Vernis À Lèvres

Lipstick not your thing? Sick of applying lip gloss every 30 seconds cuz it doesn’t last? I  got an email a few days ago from Sephora telling me to come into the store and pick up my free sample of three different Yves St. Laurent shades of lip stain gloss. I’ve raved about Sephora’s impeccable customer service in previous posts, but their Beauty Insider card is amazing and allows for samples of different products every hundred points. Once you spend an accumulation of about $300 with an associated card, you become a V.I.B. member, and you receive exclusive discounts, offers, and amazing samples on a pretty frequent basis. So, I picked up my sample of this lip stain/gloss and decided to try it out.

I’m a lipstick kind of girl usually because I don’t like the feeling of sticky lipgloss. Although this one was pretty sticky, it was worth it for the long-wearing effect. The colour stayed on for several hours while I was even drinking tea, and eventually the stickiness subsided. Here are pictures of the 3 shades I received, but there are about 20 shades to choose from.

#7. Corail Aquatique

#9. Rouge Laque

#11. Rouge Gouache

I really love all three of these shades because they offer a different look. The #9 is your typical lusty, bold red, while the #11 Rouge Gouache is a red with a subtle fuchsia tint. Weirdly enough, I actually really loved the first, #7, for a subtle everyday coral look. It looked amazing on my skin tone and probably would look even better with a summer tan.   Although these bottles sell for about $32.00 each, I think they’re well worth it for someone who likes some colour on their lips but, who maybe doesn’t like the texture or look of lipstick. Personally, I wouldn’t mind investing in one of these shades, but when a MAC lipstick is only $18, lasts forever, and has great colour and quality, I’ll stick with it.

P.S. if you walk into Sephora and ask to try products, they can make you a sample of almost anything. Take advantage of that before committing to buying expensive (but worthwhile) products!

P.P.S. I’m not wearing any eye makeup there, just lash extensions. So practical!

About ChelseaSwag

I have recently completed my Criminology degree with a concentration in law and a minor in psychology at Carleton University in Ottawa. The past three years that I have spent away from my home in Montreal have only reconfirmed my ever-longing desire to become involved in the fashion industry in some way. Although there are a lot of fashion blogs out there, I have to first say that my own style will really resonate with the girls who are always looking to stand out- more so on a student budget. Different relatives and family members involved in the fashion industry have surrounded and shaped my love for fashion throughout my lifetime, however, none are quite so edgy as myself. I hope to enlighten the ladies that are looking to add a little extra oomph to their appearance, while also reflecting their own personal taste. But remember, swag is not only what you wear- it's a lifestyle. CP
