When Coco Chanel could no longer be the designer behind the famous brand we know and covet, German designer Karl Lagerfeld stepped in and took the world by storm. Lagerfeld has an exorbitant amount of experience in the fashion industry and has worked and represented top designer brands such as Fendi, Chanel, Balmain, and Valentino. The list goes on and on.
Karl is the ominous figure of the fashion industry, and in my opinion, he’s the definition of swag. You’ll never see him without sunglasses, and he almost solely dresses in black and white. His few signatures are his assorted leather fingerless gloves, his white ponytail, and his collars. The man is simple, elegant, refined, and has truly remarkable taste. No wonder Chanel has succeeded as the brand it is today.
Now Karl has launched his own line, but one not as expensive as his fashion sense is worth. A lot of designers know that they appeal greatly to the masses, however, the masses cannot usually afford clothing and accessories that climb into the thousands. It’s important to be accessible, and I think that the Karl by Karl Lagerfeld line definitely reaches a more widespread consumer. The line’s sales definitely confirm this is true.
Silver sequins, embossed PVC leather, or white cotton with a ‘K’ Cameo, these collars are incredible accessories to wear with a high-necked shirt.
Lagerfeld loves the contrast of black and white. He uses it in Chanel, his own personal style, and now his own Karl line. The black cuffs on the white cotton blouse add a little flare to a plain garment, while the two-tone black and off white leather vest is definitely not out there, but an amazing piece nonetheless.
“There’s no Chanel collection without black. It will never exist. Who can live without some black clothes.”- Karl Lagerfeld
What have I been saying all along? Black is the go-to shade for everyone. We all look good in black, it’s stylish, sleek, and flattering. Why wouldn’t anyone wear it?
“Coco always borrowed from the boys. She took their jackets, and made them into uniforms for women.” – Karl Lagerfeld
Amazing kicks. The sneakers are seriously swagged out and the heels are simple two-tone but statement. Walk it off, Karl.
Three incredible pieces. The sprayed silver skinnies are unreal and would look great paired with one of the black blazers above. I also like the PVC sleeves on the black sweater. And, of course, it wouldn’t really be a Karl Lagerfeld collection without some leather fingerless gloves. These are incredible, and we can only assume there’s more to come.

Karl in Wonderland, such a guilty pleasure.
Some words to live by:
“Extreme luxury isn’t the most bling-bling, it’s extreme refinement, which is couture at its finest.”
— Karl Lagerfeld
