Every party girl dreams of going to Vegas, but the biggest dilemma the minute you book the trip seems to be “shit, now what am I gonna wear”? Chances are if you’re going to Vegas, your life is a little duller than The Hangover and needs some sprucing up. Luckily, there you get the chance to show your innermost wildcat, while being the heightened version of yourself thanks to a few friends like the Goose, Mr. Daniels, and my personal favourite, Senor Bacardi (dark, of course).
But seriously now, what the hell do I wear? I just booked my trip to Vegas for Canadian Thanksgiving, and although I am probably the most equipped person I know when it comes to clothing, every girl knows how it feels to walk into a closet that barely has any spare hanging space and still not to be able to find anything to wear.
So I think about my dress collection, and a lot of it seems pretty tame. I have to admit, my cleavage usually makes it out there a few times in a regular week; but when it comes to dresses, which is undoubtedly what I want to wear when I’m out partying and incoherent, I think my collection lacks that certain effect that says “you can stare all you want at my cleavage, as long as you’re buying my drinks.” Real talk. In browsing the web I’ve found a lot of inspiration as to what styles I could possibly wear in the city that makes any other look like a little bitch. Ps. I’ll keep it classy and not show my kooka like Deena did on this past episode of JShore…promise!
If you’re gonna go wild, it has to be about animal print at some point. I love these two dresses because the one on the left has a really good leopard print; it doesn’t look cheap and the design is so versatile that you can wear it going to the pool, or even out for dinner.
The BCBG one on the right says that you’re classy and covered up, but still edgy and the dress is form-fitting enough to show off the goods but keep them guessing too. I also love love love long-sleeved dresses. Meow.
These three dresses incorporate some of my favourite things: leather, cutouts, sleeves, and lace.
The dress on the left is cute and would definitely flatter any type of bust, and gives some room to breathe in the skirt area, while the dress on the right really hugs all the goods, but the cutouts really put focus on the chest and shoulder area. I could definitely see both of these dresses out partying, and the one in the middle could likely be worn to a show of some kind.
These dresses bring out a wilder side with a pop of colour, sexy lace, and amazing sequins. I can’t imagine these dresses anywhere else but on a girl equally as feisty as each of these designs, dancing like crazy with her best friend on the catwalk of the hottest club.
Left: ASOS lace skater dress with long fitted sleeves
Middle: Miss Sixty open back sequin dress
Right: French Connection sequin-covered mini…amazing!
Needless to say, these dresses are definitely the most “me”. I love the sequin detail on the outer ones, and I think these are all really sexy without giving too much away. If I had to pick a favourite, it would be the one on the right because of the intense sequin metal look, the sleeves, and the neckline that would probably come down low enough to show a little of the good stuff.
The one on the left would definitely be a party dress, while the one in the middle could probably be worn to a fancy dinner, event, or the casino since it’s a little more conservative.
All these dresses are quite different, but each seems to have something to offer, in my eyes. The Zara dress on the left is definitely for the Fall season, but I love the cut and I think it’s extremely classy and the print is great.
The dress in the middle really strikes me because of its geometric form. I love the boldness, although some would find it to be too much. I’d be all over this beauty in a second if I could afford to just keep buying dresses.
Finally, the one on the right is just really cute. It reminds me of that ‘girl next door’ type look, but I like it because it can be jazzed up and worn to so many places.
Vegas is definitely a place where you can overpack your suitcase and still manage to make it worthwhile; if there’s one place that you can wear, like, 6 outfits a day and not feel ashamed about being vein or superficial, it’s there!
Wishing myself survival after this upcoming bender,
